Slightly false alarm on Septic tank filtration system as have to wait for 36hrs for sumps to fill and pumps to kick in. News that “bulb” slightly damaged and cutting down on volume a worry and hoping a replacement “mega bulb” not on the Summer to do list!
Serious shearing at Polish Barbers in town and seeing all the white hair hitting the deck made me feel a bit Count of Monte Christo!Maybe a bad move as news from Berlin is that it’s to be minus 20 over the weekend.Thermals, woolly hat and a hip flask methinks! … Continue Reading
Calmed down slightly past few days although still some mild aftershocks rolling in.
Yesterday was meeting with Scottish Power re getting the industrial electric supply toned down and removing the serious 3 phase that was installed to take care of a 56 channel desk, assorted tape machines, heavy duty amps and speakers etc in the studio area, an AC plant and fresh air delivery unit that used to be in the rear of the building and an entire complex. The engineers gaped when they opened the sliding doors.”Never seen anything like that before!”. To get it whittled down to just a couple of grey metal boxes could be a mission in itself and I have to have a visit from “tech services” to ascertain whether I get a 3 phase domestic box, another type of 3 phase meter or just cap the 3 phase head and usher in a heavy single phase and wire up 3 fuse boxes as relays with a standard domestic meter! Phew!!And all this came about because I was informed my existing meter was out of date and needed a replacement. … Continue Reading
This is still in discussion and totally dependent on finances as it’s a big investment in titles that may or may not provide returns.I have been in contact with my old friend and producer Chris Kimsey and we are examining the possibilities of remixing and remastering “Raingods With Zippos”, “Fellini Days” and possibly “Field of Crows” as part of the re release of my solo back catalogue on Chocolate Frog Records which would include all the solo albums I have under my control.(The only exception is “Vigil” which is owned by EMI and which involves separate negotiations to secure it’s release.)With the 3 albums I need to have the original tapes “baked” and transferred to Pro Tools after which Chris can remix the tracks and even possibly employ a 5-1 mix in the process. It’s an expensive outlay and we are both seeing if we can juggle the figures to make them work. … Continue Reading
I have already began scribbling notes and forming crystals in the writing of “Feast Of Consequences” On Monday Calum Malcolm committed to the album and to be honest he is as excited as me about the concept and direction I discussed with him.In order to fit in with his demanding schedule and to give him a decent window and me a deadline to put the pressure on while still giving adequate time to complete the writing we agreed on recording in August and September with mixes finished by first week of October for release to coincide with the tour.I plan to write everything on acoustic in a traditional way and then embellishing the material in the studio rather than writing in the studio itself. This means pre production rehearsals in July so we are going in with finished songs. The recording band will be the same as the touring band but the writing team will involve outside musicians who for various reasons I can’t name yet due to their commitments to their own projects. Both Calum and I see this as an album that will be blues and soul inspired with complex and electric overtones in very much the same area as perhaps “Floyds “Animals” or “Wish You Were Here”, both albums that inspired us in our formative years. That is not to say we are following that route but the combined usage of electric and acoustic, space and dynamic which I have enjoyed on the Fishheads Club tour will be employed as a base for the album’s style. … Continue Reading
